Deb Sargent of Taringa, Brisbane, is an accounting professional working within a hospital environment. She has fully recovered from Inflammatory Breast Cancer, a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer.
Deb has been a client of Rainesforest Massage & Day Spa – Indooroopilly for many years. After being diagnosed with cancer, Deb continued on with regular massage treatment to help her on her journey to recovery.
“In the beautiful, positive, relaxing healing environment of Rainesforest, I was able to “chill out” and take my mind off cancer and just enjoy the special healing massage by a professionally trained therapist whom I trusted.”
Massage treatments supported Deb during 3 months of chemotherapy, and also in the period following surgery.
“Chemo, surgery and radiation is such a scary time, with uncertainty, fear, and hope to deal with. “Hands on ‘ massage was not only a healing, relaxing experience during this time, but also a wonderful comparison to the many clinical hands taking blood or delivering toxic drugs that you endure because you trust that they will cure your cancer.”
Deb’s journey continued with another round of chemotherapy for 3 months, and a 5-week intensive radiation program. Regardless of how challenged Deb felt, she still visited Rainesforest and found great comfort in continuing on with her massage treatments.
Finally it was time for reconstructive surgery, which Deb followed with lymphatic massage treatments to assist with post surgical healing.
“Since my cancer journey I have crossed paths with many others in a similar situation to me and spoken to them about how beneficial I found massages in the natural Rainesforest environment. On several occasions, members of a cancer support group that I am involved in, all came and had treatments and similarly felt uplifted from their visit.”
